Welcome, everybody, to my Crusader Kings 2 Let’s Play/Livestream VOD series. The uploads of this series will be unscheduled for the most part though you can expect them at about 11 AM EST like most of my videos these days. The original livestream of this was done on Twitch a week or two ago as of this video. My streams are done in 480p due to internet constraints on my upload speed. This series is the replacement for my old “Prince of Venice” livestream series I did as a Venetian patrician. As I have since discovered, I find the play style promoted by merchant republics to be rather boring and not of interest to me. I much prefer the traditional CK2 playstyle. I can’t speak for nomads though as I have yet to try one out.
This playthrough will be as Svipjod, up in modern-day Sweden. I will be starting in 769 as the historical character of Sigurdr – known to the less historically inclined as the father of Ragnar Lothbrok. I will be attempting to unify Sweden under one banner as well as conquering large parts of Norway and Finland if possible.
There will be lots of raiding in this playthrough in order to make money once the Viking raids start date is reached. As I have learned, tribal rulers do not make a lot of money from taxes so raids are pretty essential to keep the coin flowing into my coffers.
One thing you should keep in mind with this playthrough is that it is exceedingly unlikely that I will play until the end date of CK2. The series will end once I am no longer enjoying this playthrough but other than that, I haven’t got a designated end date or anything. We will see how things play out.
Unlike with a Merchant Republic, I have played as a tribal lord many times in the past and this is my favored start for such a position so I do kind of know what I’m doing to some degree. Still, if you want to offer tips or suggestions then go right ahead.
I will be doing this playthrough with a bit of a roleplaying slant and making most decisions based on the traits of my character. For example, if I am playing someone who is humble or charitable, it is very unlikely that I will fake the gold in minted coins in order to make some extra cash. Now, if I am a greedy character….
And since I know some people will ask about this, I’ll just cover it right here. I am using every single piece of content DLC for CK2. There are a few unit packs and music packs I do not own but other than that, I am using all of it.
