Jeppe Lauge: Into the picture

Jeppe Lauge: Into the picture We are brought into the process of how Jeppe Lauge creates his work, from the very beginning where he gathers image material to the exhibited paintings in the gallery.

“A painting normally start by me putting on my hiking boots!”

Along the way Jeppe Lauge talks about his relation to nature and the importance to see and feel the environment in order to create his landscapes: “When you are out there in the wilderness, gathering the image material, you experience your surroundings. Back in my workspace, the images trigger my memory, and I need that to create emotion within the paintings”.

In his work he reflects our relation to nature, as humans of today. At first glance the paintings might simply looks like landscapes, but in the layers of oil paint you see the geometric abstraction that are a result of the digital process to construct the space within the painting.
