After 500 years... the Inca celebration of Inti Raymi returns to Cuenca Ecuador.... with a passion! Supplanted by the Catholic Corpus Cristi holiday of the Spanish conquistadors in the 1500's, the week of Inti Raymi in the northern Inca capital of Tomebamba (today' Cuenca) was huge .... rivaled only by that of Cuzco in what is today Peru. This year, after nearly half a millenium, it's back! What a great day was had by all.... beauty, color, movement and music. And feasting and drinking, of course! All in gratitude of the Elements, Pacha Mama - Mother Earth and Inti - Father Sun. Jaffe and I and dear friends Marsha, and Bruce I marched, ate a pizza and drank Irish Coffee - a truly cross-cultural celebration of connection , nature and gratitude for life! What else is there?
