Pondering on Physics (The Cumulative of Two Years in Physics)

Pondering on Physics (The Cumulative of Two Years in Physics) A lot of my friends ask if taking AP Physics is truly worth it. My answer is yes.

AP Physics was truly was a subject I found to intrigue and motivate me. When I first came in as a sophomore, I promised my parents I would take Physics since it was a course that my father enjoyed and could talk about with me. However, after countless nights reading the textbook, Physics explained a lot of natural concepts and phenomenons. From how an object gains and converts energy to how light has a wave and particle nature, nothing in the class was boring. Personally, this was the highlight of my experience, learning more about the world around me. One activity that hinders my excitement for Physics was the lab reports we had to spend a great quantity of time to complete. There are so many sections to a report, from a short summary to results, from results to analyzing, from analyzing to forming a conclusion. Of course, it was meant for us students to better understand the topic, but it was still painstaking.

Overall, this class fulfilled its promises of preparing me for the AP exam in May, assigning both multiple choice questions and free response questions. While the multiple choice is usually easy, some free responses are difficult and result in me missing the whole problem. The points may have impacted my grades, but it is better that I knew what to practice and master before moving on. One thing I wished that occurred more was homework checks. I know it sounds stupid, but I would procrastinate Physics homework so much and those surprise checks would keep me more on track.

AP Physics has brought out the best and worst of me, my enthusiasm from perfecting a new concept or lab experiment and my lack of awareness when I did not pay attention to instructions. In addition, when I was overstimulated from a sugary snack, I sometimes bursted out into a Taekwondo move in class and shout gibberish like “It’s Hero Time!” Maybe I should have stayed calm to retain the respect of the teacher. Maybe I should have continued being myself to remain true to who I am and have as much fun as possible before I leave high school.

To whomever is the subject of my letter, I am urging you to try out AP classes (If you haven't already). It takes courage to sign up for an AP class as the course will subject you to extreme pressure. Be resilient and studious, do not become upset from minor setbacks. As stated previously, be on your toes and on task. Finally, just be yourself, whether it is a shy and reserved individual or a hyperactive and impulsive adolescent. Your teacher is thrilled to have you as long as you demonstrate your willingness to learn. Oh, and a quick side note, do not throw CDs across the classroom. They really hurt.
