A bill moving through the California Legislature would allow noncitizens to participate in Democratic Party politics in the state. Specifically, SB 288 allows noncitizens to serve as a member of a county central committee or as a delegate to the state central committee of the Democratic Party of California. Proponents said it’s all about getting more people to participate in the voting process, which they say is good for democracy.
