This blocked ear wax removal extraction procedure is performed by UK pioneer and world-leading endoscopic ear wax removal specialist Mr Neel Raithatha (Consultant Audiologist) aka 'The Wax Whisperer’ at his clinic in Oadby, Leicester, UK. Ear wax removal is necessary when ear wax build up becomes impacted. Symptoms causes by earwax blockage include: earache (otalgia), conductive hearing loss, blocked ear, vertigo, tinnitus, itchiness and irritation, occlusion etc.
The client attended with bilateral Otitis Externa with otorrhea. Otorrhea is an ear discharge exiting the ear canal.
In the left ear, the discharge was of a white appearance, whereas in the right ear it was green. The left discharge in particular had quite an offensive odour. In addition, both auditory canals were heavily inflamed, especially in the right ear.
Using a combination of the Zoellner suction probe and Fine End Gauge 18 attachment, I was able to remove the occluding otorrhea from both ears. There was a thick residual remaining on the anterior aspect of the left eardrum which not did suction out as it was adhered to the eardrum itself. The right medial posterior canal wall was also very inflamed making it difficult to access the inner portion of the external canal wall.
I had to be very delicate and cautious as the client was naturally experiencing a lot of pain before attending the appointment due to their infected ears. I have sent a referral to the client’s GP for treatment of the Otitis Externa.
