Shepherds from the town of Takiya, Sulaimani province, have domesticated six wolves, which they reportedly found in the wild five months ago in the arid mountains near the village of Bawapati Saru.

Footage shows two wolves on a leash in the backyard of the owner’s house, being fed dog food and accompanying the shepherds to guard their sheep when they are taken for grazing in the mountains.

Aside from protection duties, these once-feral beasts are also play companions of the children in the village with one of the shepherds saying that the wolves have not been the source of any problems.
