A leaking toilet is not just an annoying sound, it is also a constant waste of water and money. The good news is that it is usually an easy DIY home repair. In this DID video I will show you how to replace the seal on 2 different types of toilets; a flapper valve seal and a flapper-less valve seal. For the most part the steps are the same at the beginning and end but the key difference is in the type of seal. The flapper basically plugs a hole and is connected to a handle by a chain. In my flapper-less tank valve the seal is more like a gasket or an over-sized rubber washer. There is a time and effort saving tip in this video that shows how the seal can be replaced without taking the valve pieces apart. That means the whole process can be completed in just about 5 minutes!
The flapper-less flush valve in this video is on a Mansfield toilet with a #210 Watersaver valve assembly (the seal I used to replace also works for the #211 ULF valve assembly. Check the package for compatibility between parts and toilet models.
If you have a basic comfort level and knowledge of plumbing then this is a really easy DIY home repair. But, if you are not comfortable with DIY plumbing repairs (or if you have any doubts) you should consult a professional for advice before attempting repairs on your own. This video is intended for educational purposes. You are fully responsible for any and all actions that you take when it comes to home repairs.
