The video will start in 8 Cancel NHS chiefs have warned nursery staff that referring to boys and girls could lead to murder. They claim using gendered language could be part of a “sliding scale of violence that can result in physical violence or murder”. The barmy guidelines by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde also urge staff to take issue with children and visitors if what they say is not “gender friendly”. The report by the Scottish NHS authority has been slammed as extreme by a charity. Piers Shepherd, of the Family Education Trust, blasted the move. He said: “Talking about violence ending in murder is very extreme. There seems to be a thought-policing attitude.” The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: “At no point are staff asked to stop referring to children as boys or girls.” Meanwhile, new census guidelines which allow people to fill in their gender according to the option they feel best describes their sex came under fire. NHS paediatrician Dr Julie Maxwell said: “If national statistics are skewed in this way, you lose any meaningful knowledge of how often health problems are happening in men and women.”
