Empowering People with Dementia to Socialize

Empowering People with Dementia to Socialize Social isolation is sadly a reality for many older adults today. According to the government of Canada, living alone, being 80 or older, having many chronic illnesses, having no children or little contact with one’s family and living with a low income are the strongest predictors of isolation. Social isolation can lead to a variety of physical and mental health complications. This webinar will focus on the importance of social relationships in older adults along with solutions.
The Tales & Travels program will also be discussed during this webinar. This innovative library program provides services directly to people living with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia and their caregivers. Participants explore different countries through books, images, reading aloud and watching videos.
