Using a single wide strip of canvas has several advantages over other methods: a) it saves you a step, as there is no need for a narrow strip of canvas between the two buckles, (which is all but useless anyway)
b) the 5" wide strip of canvas has a wider 'footprint' that the other methods, and thus spreads the tension across a wider area - and is therefore measurably more comfortable, and
c) it plus the more-generous seam allowances that I mention in the prior video have the potential to dramatically lengthen the lifespan of the kilt because it is far less likely that the fell seams will fail under tension.
I was sick as a dog and mentally surfing on Ibuprofen when we shot this, hence the few small mistakes (the canvas is 5 inches WIDE, not 'long' as I say here)
