Deepest point on land found beneath Antarctic ice The deepest point of land on Earth has just been discovered beneath Antarctic ice, under the Denman Glacier by researchers at the University of California. The trench stretches 11,500 ft below sea level and was discovered as a part of creating the most detailed map of the land beneath Antarctica. Called BedMachine, the map shows the ridges and slopes that make up the landscape. This land, discovered is the deepest continental point on Earth, according to the team. During the research, the team also helped understand which regions of the continent will be more susceptible to the effects of climate change.
