Victory day

16th December 1971. A day, which we all celebrate as Vijay Diwas or Victory Day. It is a celebration of the Indian Military over Pakistan in 1971. It is the day on which the Indian forces helped Bangladesh to form its roots as an independent nation. Lieutenant-General A. A. K. Niazi signed the instrument of surrender in front of Allied Forces (Mitro Bahini) represented by Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Arora of Indian Army. The war officially started between India and Pakistan on 3rd December 1971 and ended with the surrender of Pakistan Army after 13 days on 16th December 1971.

Indian Army Chief General Sam Manekshaw was the brain behind the preparations of the army which led to the marvelous victory of the Indian Armed Forces. The Recipients of the Param Vir Chakra during this war were:
1. Lance Naik Albert Ekka
2. Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon
3. Major Hoshiar Singh
4. Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal
