"They fell in love, of course they did, but fundamentally, they were just different people. Things at times were wonderful and things at times were difficult. He could see them falling out of love - both of them it wasn't just him - and it hurt because he really thought it could last. The arguments got out of hand so fast, words flung about like they didn't mean anything. It hurt him more than anything else, but he was the one saying them, saying them without thinking of how much it'd hurt them both. Of course though, there were moments when he looked at him, and was reminded so wonderfully of why he fell in love with him in the first place."
