Leaving Korea is a big decision until you realise all the money you get for leaving Korea, quitting EPIK and going home after teaching in Korea - I mean, the amount of money you get from severance, pension and exit allowances is super high and you can end up with thousands of dollars on top of how much money you can save while teaching in Korea. Making money while teaching abroad is the main reason people come to teach in Korea, and all of this money for simply completing your contract in full should absolutely not be sniffed at.
We do earn a decent wage here in korea and I have spoken about how much money you can save here: but what really strikes me is the fact that when you leave you also can get given so much money on top of what you have in allowances - especially if you are American, Canadian or Australian.
