How To Get Off The Grid For $5000 Grid Assisted Power Backup

In the series "How To Get Off The Grid For $5,000" comes this addition. This is a voltage converter to keep your batteries charged up in case of clouds or rain.

The system I am going to talk about today is called Grid Assisted Solar Power. Many people are familiar with a grid tie solar power system which costs a lot of money and has a lot of regulations before you can get it set up.

The grid tie solar power system feeds excess solar power back into the power grid when the sun is shining bright. But later, after dark, the house draws its power needs out of the grid.

In this way the power grid is like a battery bank, storing your energy for you until later. If you produce more energy than you use in a month, you get a pay check from the electric company.

With a grid assisted solar power system, there are no regulations, inspections or other special requirements.

In this case a voltage converter like this Aims 120 to 24 volt battery charger gets placed in between the power grid and your solar power battery bank.

The Aims power converter keeps the battery bank charged up at all times no matter the condition of the solar power output. In this way we will never run out of energy up to the limit of the solar panels or the battery charger.

The Aims power converter plugs into 120 volts AC and provides a steady 12 or 24 volt output. At 12 volts it can provide up to 75 Amps to your battery bank. At 24 volts it can provide up to 37.5 Amps.

You can adjust the current output of the battery charger to fit your battery bank size.
