Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Did Something Tremendous

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Did Something Tremendous Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice had to prove a lot. Simply put, it was to be the latest game from the critically acclaimed and supremely lauded studio: FromSoftware. This is the team behind Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls and Bloodborne. All told, five games which all fascinated players when they launched. Selling millions and millions of copies, Dark Souls 3 was the latest entry in the so called Soulsborne series, but after it launched, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game’s director, said that he wanted to try something new and that the studio would be stepping away from Dark Souls (at least, for a time). For most people they assumed that this meant we would get another bloodborne, but for those in the know, this was not a likely possibility for reasons we’ll discuss later in the video. And so, this left us with the assumption of a new IP, something fresh and different, but also something that needed to shake things up. Change the formula into something unique unto itself while retaining elements of what made FromSoftware an internationally recognizable brand. The bar was set high, and this video aims to look at why this bar was so high, and how Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was able to surpass all expectations.
