Its important for birds of prey to fulfill their instinctual need to hunt, kill and eat their prey. In the wild these birds do this on a very regular basis. To prepare Carol for the hunting season we build up her confidence by allowing her to kill and eat a live at. This rat was purchased from a feeder supply store and was not intended to be a pet. In this video we stage a mock hunt and release this live rat to see if Carol will instinctively kill the rat or just let it run free. .
