Two FEMEN activists staged a topless protest against Russian President Vladimir Putin outside the Elysee Palace in Paris on Monday.

The protest came ahead of the arrival of Putin along with the leaders of the Ukraine and Germany for the 'Normandy Four' fomat negotiations being hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The activists were detained by police and footage shows one of them climbing over the protective barrier before being tackled to the ground by a police officer.

The protesters were chanting ‘Stop Putin’s wars’ and had the same slogan painted on their torsos.

FEMEN, a radical feminist activist group, was founded in Ukraine and is now based in Paris. The organization works towards protecting women's rights. They became internationally known for holding controversial topless protests against sex tourism, religious institutions, sexism and other social issues.
