'No Indian needs to worry': Govt fights NRC fire With intense protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act and proposed NRC across the country, the centre is in fire-fighting mode to dispel fears the NRC threatens citizenship of Muslims. The Home Ministry on Friday announced that no individual will be considered an illegal immigrant so long as they or their parents can prove that they were born in India before July 1, 1987, NDTV reported quoting senior ministry officials. The report added that officials also clarified there has been no discussion yet within the govt on a nationwide NRC.
