Boris Johnson confident of tariff free trade deal with EU Boris Johnson has insisted he is confident that he can secure a zero-tariff, zero-quota trade deal with the European Union.

He also believes that deal would ensure no checks on goods being moved from Britain to Northern Ireland.

Johnson was speaking to journalists in Northern Ireland which has to maintain alignment with EU market rules under Britain's Brexit deal - in order to avoid a hard border.

In another development, Mr Johnson has been invited to visit Donald Trump in Washington and is set to receive the red-carpet treatment by the President.

As the UK roars towards Brexit, the PM and the US President will work to create friendship and goodwill as the allies look at a trade deal.
