Julia Hartley-Brewer | Iran & US at war? Labour leadership & Brexit Boris Johnson and his French and German counterparts have called for all sides to work towards an urgent easing of tensions in the Persian Gulf.

The Prime Minister, Emmanuel Macron and Angela Merkel said that while they were concerned by the "negative" role Iran has played in the region - including through forces directed by Qassem Soleimani - there was now "an urgent need for de-escalation"

Labour's ruling National Executive Committee is to decide on the campaign timetable and other key elements for the election of Jeremy Corbyn's successor.

Other factors that could potentially affect the outcome, such as who is eligible to vote, will also be ruled on during the meeting expected to be attended by the outgoing leader in London on Monday.
