My SPOT Protocol & Instructions Sheet | Don't '127-Hours' Yourself!

My SPOT Protocol & Instructions Sheet | Don't '127-Hours' Yourself! A few of you asked me to share my SPOT Protocol & Instructions sheet. Here it is!

This is a document I've created for the people who love and check up on me, so that they can track my movements in the backcountry, and know what it means or what to do if they receive a message when I press one of the buttons.

I do not consider a PLB (like a SPOT or inReach device) to be necessary for getting outdoors, but it is something I always carry. If you don't have one, you can still use some of these steps to ensure better chances of rescue in case something goes wrong on a trip.

Also keep in mind that this is not the only safety measure you can set in place, and there are other ways to create a communication and safety plan that is tailored to your personal needs/adventures.
